Have you ever met a sleazy salesperson?\u00a0 \u00a0How does it make you feel?\u00a0 Most people don’t like it, and it makes me feel like I need a shower. Thankfully, most realtors aren’t sleazy.\u00a0 \u00a0I’ve met maybe 200 realtors in my life, but only met about 3-4 good ones.\u00a0 Most realtors don’t work that hard.\u00a0 That’s not the case for all of them though.\u00a0 I have met a few that work extremely hard, it’s just more of the exception not the rule.
\nHere’s a joke for you, what’s the best way to get rid of a realtor?\u00a0 List with them.<\/p>\n

I’ll never forget this one sleazy realtor Rick that used to know.\u00a0 He would come by knocking on doors when I lived in St. Paul. He smoked and his hair was greasy, but I gotta hand it to him, he was doing the work required to move his business forward.

\nEstimates say there are 20,000 realtors in the Twin Cities.\u00a0 That’s one in every 150 people.\u00a0 Most people know 200 people so that means, likely, you know one or two realtors.<\/p>\n

It makes me smile when I get this question, because underlying in the question is a disdain for the typical sleazy sales person.\u00a0 Most of the realtors I’ve met have actually been very nice and normal folks, but there is a connotation that they are less than desirable people to be near, and most people don’t like them.<\/p>\n

Why is this?\u00a0 I just don’t get it.\u00a0 Maybe because of the old joke? JOKE: What’s the best way to get rid of a realtor?\u00a0 ANSWER:\u00a0 List with them. (bc you’ll never see them again)<\/p>\n

But seriously.\u00a0 Why have I chosen to avoid that exclusive\u00a0<\/i>group?\u00a0 \u00a0Why aren’t I a realtor?\u00a0 It would certainly save me a lot of money, yeah?\u00a0 \u00a0It would be so much better to control your own deals, yeah?\u00a0 \u00a0 Why would you want to give all that money away?<\/p>\n

It’s the same reason I don’t breed my own dogs.\u00a0 There are specialists out there who are good at what they do.\u00a0 Realtors are the conduit to a marketplace called The MLS that’s pretty much it.\u00a0 They help serve an unsophisticated client, for sure, they teach them what a PA is, disclosure, holdback, leaseback, option, earnest money, escrow, and all the other terms that are associated with a retail transaction.\u00a0 However, if you get them out of their box, they’re as lost as a married man in Victoria’s Secret.<\/p>\n

Ask any real estate agent about buying a house sub2 or using an<\/p>\n

option as earnest money to secure a PA, and oftentimes their eyes glaze over and they’ll steer you back to traditional real estate, telling you “you can’t do that<\/p>\n

here”, or “no one would take an offer like that in this market”.\u00a0 \u00a0You see a confused mind says no.\u00a0 That’s why I don’t talk very much, until it’s time to speak.\u00a0 And then when I do speak, I don’t use jargon.\u00a0 Only words that describe what I’m seeking.<\/p>\n
